EMSL Analytical offers highly customized studies that can provide a variety of data to help determine the shelf life of a product.

These studies are based on product specifications, estimated shelf life, product storage conditions, parameters of interest for analysis, as well as budget and time requirements.

Before starting a shelf life study, one should have a solid knowledge of their product in order to get the most out of the data and to choose the appropriate tests.

Key items to know about the product include:

• Formulation

• History of association of illness, outbreaks or potential growth within the product type

• Define requirements, procedures and limits for safety and quality criteria through HACCP and Quality Plans Due to the customized nature of these studies, EMSL recommends that a Shelf Life Study Request for Proposal (RFP) form be filled out and submitted for each product in question.
